Tissues and organs are higher organizational levels of the body of multicellular animals. cells make tissues in the body and tissues make the organ. There are different organs in our body that make up a system of organs. A tissue performs the special task while the organs operate the complex. The size of the tissue is smaller than the organ and the organ requires more energy to perform any action.

The major difference between tissues and organs is that tissues are made up of similar types of cells that are specialized to perform a single function. On the other hand, the organs are made up of several types of tissues and cells and perform several related functions in the body. Organ and tissues are found in plant and animal bodies.

The brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver are the main organs of the animal. while, the root, stem, and leaves are the main organs of the plants.

What are Tissues?

If the similar and specific type of cells is grouped together or organized together constitute tissue. The tissues in our are assigned to perform the specific function. The study of animal and human body bodies is called “histology”. While the study of plant tissues is called “plant anatomy”.

It is easily observed that cells are present in the tissues by the invention of the electron microscope. It is commonly seen that the cells are properly arranged and thus help the tissues to work in the formation of the organ. Connective tissue, nervous tissue, epithelial tissue, and muscle tissue are four types of animal tissues.

Types of Tissues in Animals

There are four major types of tissues that found in animals:

  • Epithelial tissue
  • Connective tissue
  • Muscle Tissue
  • Nervous Tissue

Types of Tissues in Plants

There are also three major types of plants tissues are:

  • Epidermis
  • Vascular Tissues
  • Ground Tissues

  • Connective Tissue

These tissues connect to the group of other tissues and are found between organs and other tissues. Connective tissues are the most abundant and widely distributed tissues. Connective tissue plays a vital role as they support and protect organs. Dense fibrous tissue, cartilage, bone, lymph, fatty tissue, loose connective tissue are some of the following connective tissues in the animal/human body.

  • Nervous Tissue

Tissues are found in the nervous system of the human body, especially in the spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and the brain. Neuron or nerve cell is the chain and long structure. Nervous tissues receive stimuli and conduct impulses from all parts of the body

  • Epithelial tissue

Epithelial tissues cover the lining of the innermost cavities. Secretion, absorption, protection, and filtration in the body are the major functions performed by epithelial tissues.

  • Muscle tissue

Muscle tissues make the muscles of the body. Skeletal muscle tissue, heart tissue, and smooth muscle tissue are the types of muscle tissues.

What are Organs?

The group of tissues occurs in a living organism and is assigned to perform the specific function. The heart, kidney, stomach, skin, and liver are made up of tissues and together form a system of organs. these are the major organs in our body. Several organs perform various functions i.e. pumping the heart, breathing, excretion, reproduction. etc.

Different types of organsĀ are made up of four types of tissue. In human anatomy, the various organs and organ systems studied are:

  • Endocrine System

A system that processes hormones produced by the endocrine glands like the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, pineal gland, parathyroid, thyroid, and adrenal gland.

  • Cardiovascular System

A system that deals with pumping blood from the body, from the lungs to the heart.

  • Excretory System

The major parts of the excretory system are the bladder, urethra, kidneys, and urethra.

  • Muscular system

Involves the movement of muscles.

What is the relationship between tissues and organs?

  • Tissue is the assembly between cells and organs that are evenly distributed structures throughout the body.
  • Tissues are assigned to the execution of the fixed task.
  • Both tissues and organs are found in plants and animals, made up of similar cells that work in precise ways.
  • Organs are hollow structures made up of tissues and organized to function precisely for the body in animals as well as in plants.
  • Tissues are made up of the same type of cells whereas organs are the result of the same type of tissue.
  • Tissues play a vital role in the body and the first is to make organs. Breathing, digestion, excretion of bodily waste, blood circulation are the different functions performed by the different organs present in the body.
  • A tissue can be repaired by regeneration and fibrosis, while tissues make organs, tissue repair will therefore lead to organ repair.
  • Nervous tissue, muscle tissue, connective tissue, epithelial tissue are examples of tissues, On the other hand, stomach, lungs, heart, intestine, bladder, brain, kidneys, etc., are the names of some of the organs.

Difference Between Tissues and Organs

  • Tissues are the collections of similar cells with similar functions and structures. On the other hand, an organ is made up of clusters of two or more tissues that function for one or more common functions.
  • An organ is larger in size than tissue.
  • An organ can perform multiple tasks in complexities whereas tissues can perform a single or simple task.
  • The organ needs more energy or ATP to perform its functions.
  • The organ is much more recognizable than fabrics.
