On the other hand, Puberty is determined by the physical findings of development, we rely on Tanner’s stages to categorize the patient within normal stages or find out-of-range findings and be able to classify them as: precocious puberty before 8 years of age in females and 9 years of age in boys, or delayed puberty at 13 years in girls and 14 years in boys.

What is adolescence?

Adolescence: A period in biological, psychological, sexual, and social development immediately after childhood and beginning with puberty. Its range of duration varies according to different sources and medical, scientific, and psychological opinions, but its beginning is generally framed between 10 and 12 years and its completion at 19 to 20 years. Adolescence is the transition period between childhood and adult life. Adolescence covers a large part of the period of puberty, but its limits are less defined, and it refers more to psychosocial and cultural characteristics.

What is Puberty?

At puberty, the process of physical changes takes place in which the body of the boy or girl becomes an adolescent, capable of sexual reproduction. Greater differences in size, shape, composition, and functional development are noted during puberty in many structures and systems of the body. In a strict sense, the term “puberty” refers to the bodily changes in sexual maturation rather than the psychosocial and cultural changes that this entails.
