What is internal migration?
The word migration implies a person or group of people leave a place of residence and settle in another place permanently.
It is known as internal migration to the movement of people from one place to another within the same region .
These migrations can be caused by climatological, political or ideological issues . An example of an internal migration is when someone, born in a small town, decides to go to the city (of their own country) in search of job opportunities.

Causes of internal migrations
The reasons or causes for which internal migrations occur are varied: labor issues, personal freedom, adventure, search for resources for survival, etc.

External or international migration
An external or international migration is one that occurs from a specific geographical point to a different one legally speaking. That is, it is a migration from a nation, country or territory to a different one . For example, an external migration is when a person, born in Brazil, moves to another country such as Colombia or Mexico.

Examples of internal migrations
- The conquest of the American West had as motivators that the inhabitants of various areas went to the American West in search of freedom , wealth, etc.
- Another example is the jujeño exodus that took place on August 23, 1812 in northern Argentina. On that occasion, the people who inhabited the capital of that province, San Salvador de Jujuy, migrated commanded by Manuel Belgrano as they had the warning of the invasion of the realistic army and wanted to flee so as not to be attacked. Thus said city migrated completely to the neighboring province Tucumán.
- Another example, in this case of internal migration due to ideological and political issues, was Mao’s march . In October 1934 the communist forces of Mao Tse Tung were surrounded by an army of 10,000 men commanded by the nationalist Chiang Kai-shek. Mao’s army traveled more than 10,000 km and traveled 11 provinces to reach Sgensi, a remote northwestern province.
- In the 40s in Argentina many farm workers migrated to the capital (Buenos Aires) for labor purposes and benefits.

Examples of external migrations
- Biblical exodus . In the old testament we can see an example of external migration when Egypt leaves for the promised land.
- Migrations from Europe in the mid-nineteenth century to different parts of North, Central and South America as a political and ideological escape from their native places but also in search of new job opportunities.
- External migration processes from Syria to Europe. In 2015, the exodus or external migration from Syria to Mediterranean Europe of thousands of people who fled the armed conflict in this country increased.
- Waves of forced migration by world wars , caused thousands of people to travel to more peaceful destinations (away from their countries at war ) in order to flee from that warlike destination.
